What could be more emblematic of flower power and the late 1960s at Fender than the Paisley Telecaster?
This magnificent example is entirely original. Its finish has gently turned golden over the decades, a phenomenon typical of the nitrocellulose lacquer of that era, which darkens under the effects of light and oxidation. The paisley pattern remains clearly visible beneath the patina, with a distinctive contrast between the areas that have retained a slightly pinkish hue and those that have warmed to a deep gold. The original transparent pickguard and metal parts show normal wear, nothing excessive, just what you’d expect from a guitar that has lived a life without being mistreated. The maple cap neck retains its typical late 1960s C-shape; these profiles are particularly playable with low action and the characteristic twang of maple necks. The back finish has taken on a honey hue with some areas naturally satin-like from playing. The pickups, wiring, and hardware are original, which is rare for this model. The only modification was a Les Paul-style jack plate with four screws that was installed on the side and then removed. The operation was particularly well executed because, while the location is visible, the small holes are invisible, even under UV light. The frets are in good condition, the guitar is set up, and overall, it’s a tremendous pleasure to play.
It comes with a 1970s hardshell case, not original but consistent with the era.
