Supro Silverwood

1958

Electric Supro guitar manufactured by Valco in the USA and dating from 1958 according to the Mark Makin database, referenced in his excellent book : Palm trees, Senoritas… and rocket ships! an essential work for all enthusiasts of American guitars, by the way.

This late 1950s model features a solid body with its original natural finish. The lacquer shows some wear, but this is clearly an instrument that has been played. It has been refretted. There is also a small crack in the neck pocket cavity, though nothing serious. The original Supro logo on the headstock remains in very good condition, and the Kluson tuners function well. It is a stable instrument with an excellent sound, capable of a wide range of tones thanks to its rather unusual electronics.

Indeed, it is fitted with two original single-coil pickups with chrome covers, somewhat in the style of P90s, along with a rosewood bridge featuring an original piezo pickup.

The aluminum tailpiece is elegant and adds a subtle Art Deco touch to the overall design.

Original cardboard case included.
