Gibson Les Paul Custom
1969
Very similar in construction to the 1950s models, these very first reissues from the late 1960s are fantastic. Several have passed through the shop recently, but never in such beautiful condition. As you can see, this model is particularly well preserved and entirely original (apart from the frets). It comes from the second reissue period, which spanned from the very end of 1968 to the beginning of spring 1969. For connoisseurs, it has a one-piece neck, one-piece body, and a long tenon. So, no volute at all. The guitar weighs 4.2 kg, which is good. It sounds terrific, really. Even unplugged, you can quickly see what’s going on. It has two original patent number pickups. The electronics are intact (the bridge pickup cover could have been removed, however). The four potentiometers are identical and date from the first week of 1969, of course the two bumble bee capacitors are still there. No repairs, no modifications other than the plastic selector tip, which was split and re-glued. The neck is perfect, quite round and fleshy, very straight, plays like butter. Original hardshell case.
