Supro Tremolectric Wedgwood Blue

1964

Here’s a truly original and very enjoyable instrument to play.

This is a quality guitar and a relatively rare piece. There’s something special going on here — it’s not one of those Chicago-made instruments from the era that lack sustain. While that lo-fi character can be charming, they often miss a certain depth. This one stands apart.

The construction is particularly interesting. The body is made of fiberglass (Res-O-Glas) with internal longitudinal bracing. The neck, marketed at the time as Kord-King, features an internal aluminum core that adds both stability and sustain. It has that typical Supro chunky profile, yet remains very comfortable and easy to play. The action is low and smooth, and the neck angle is spot-on — easily adjustable via the neck pitch screw if needed.

The guitar is fitted with two original large single-coil pickups. The electronics have just been serviced and are working perfectly, including the “tremolo” effect activated by the small red button on the top. It functions like a mini volume pedal, simulating a tremolo effect — a quirky and actually very usable feature.

Unplugged, the instrument resonates nicely thanks to its hollow body construction. Plugged in, it delivers a distinctive tone well suited for indie rock and beyond — equally at home in delta blues, slide playing, and of course surf-inspired music.

It comes with its original cardboard case, which remains in good, functional condition.
