Gibson L-48

1951

An unusual feature of this L-48 is its mahogany top and sides, paired with a maple back. We are more accustomed to seeing the opposite combination, but it must be said that the result is very convincing.

This archtop is in very good condition. Despite being 72 years old, it has come down to us with no cracks or repairs. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is superb, and the instrument is perfectly playable. The neck has that full yet comfortable profile, typical of the period.

The tuners, bridge, tailpiece, and pickguard are original. There have been no modifications, except for the addition of a strap button at the heel. This is an instrument that truly sounds great, with an exceptionally seductive tone.

It comes in a properly sized hardshell case.
