Gibson Super 400 CESN
1962
This is exactly why I do this job. Placing your hands on such an instrument is an unforgettable experience.
This exceptional model was produced in only 16 units—a true grail for collectors and jazz players. Just think about it: a little over one per month left the factory in 1962.
This high-end archtop features outstanding craftsmanship and an equally remarkable sound. The feel is incredible—you barely need to press the strings against the fingerboard for the note to instantly leap out. It is equipped with its two original PAF pickups: warm yet beautifully clear, open, and dynamic. They didn’t become legendary pickups for nothing. It’s simply incomparable to anything else.
The instrument has undergone a professional neck reset, extremely well executed and only visible under UV light, ensuring optimal playability with perfect action across the entire neck. It retains its original components, including the pickguard. Overall condition is very good, with natural patina and some cosmetic wear mainly on the back—purely aesthetic, a cord probably in the case has left a few marks on top around the pickguard, bearing witness to its history and many hours of playing.
A particularly rare and inspiring piece.
It comes with its original hard case, also in excellent condition. The exterior condition of a case often reflects the care given to an instrument, and this one is no exception.
