Gibson SG custom

1972

This instrument is in excellent condition and has had no repairs. This is the deluxe version of the SG, featuring three pickups, an ebony fingerboard, gold hardware and a Bigsby. The one currently fitted is not original, although it is also a B5-style Bigsby.

The neck is obviously one of the major highlights of this instrument. It still retains its original low-profile frets, making it one of those famous “Fretless Wonders.” You barely need to press the strings against the fingerboard, which is quite remarkable. This guitar has an incredible sense of ease and almost freedom to it, with effortless and virtually unrestricted access to the upper frets. You naturally find yourself playing all the way up and down the neck, with that exhilarating feeling that absolutely nothing gets in the way of your playing.

The three pickups also provide a rather distinctive tonal palette. The selector works as it does on SG Customs from this period: neck pickup in the up position, middle and bridge pickups together in the middle position, and bridge pickup in the down position. The middle position has that distinctive, more hollowed-out character associated with this three-pickup configuration.

Comes with a Gibson Protector case.
