Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

1954

Here we are. 1954 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. Let’s keep things simple.

This is exactly what you think it is: an original Goldtop that has been played and carefully maintained over the years.

An outstanding instrument that has seen relatively little market circulation, coming from the collection of a well-known European expert. The guitar was imported into Europe by him and retains its CITES documentation.

It shows a natural and even patina, fully consistent with its age. Over time, it has benefited from thoughtful maintenance, including a binding replacement along with associated light overspray. The instrument retains a very authentic overall appearance.

The neck is full and substantial, with no repairs, featuring the robust profile that makes these instruments so desirable.

Both P90 pickups are original and deliver the rich, expressive tone one would expect. The electronics are also original, including the potentiometers and capacitors.

The white plastic parts are original, with the exception of the pickup selector ring. The jack plate is a replacement, with the original included in the case.

The individual Kluson tuners are original and function as they should.

The case is a correct period example for a 1954 Les Paul, though not the original to this guitar.
