Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster

1960

On Hold

Here’s a true queen of the golden age of Gibson guitars.

This 1960 Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster, in its resplendent original sunburst finish, is an absolutely remarkable example. It’s entirely original and includes its trio of PAF pickups. The guitar features magnificent flamed top and metal hardware that has gracefully patinated over the years. The neck is incredibly smooth, and paired with a quality amp, this Switchmaster is divine. The sound is incredible; on the Selmer Twin 30 in the store, it’s like listening to a record in high fidelity. Truly the best you can do. It’s without a doubt one of the instruments that has most impressed me recently.  It’s a very high-end model produced in very small quantities, with only 46 produced in 1960. Barely 4 left the factory per month. How many have survived in this condition and with their pickups to this day? Probably quite few, given the number of examples constantly found with modified pickups.

It comes with its original Lifton case with all its working latches and period papers. This instrument is a true treasure and a highly sought-after classic, especially in this condition and with its legendary pickups intact.
