National N-100

1947

The United States’ entry into the war in 1942 had the effect of mobilizing all the resources and materials available in the country. National resonator guitars therefore had to suddenly stop production. The brand returned after the war with completely different instruments. For example with this model presented at the Namm in 1947 by CMI to relaunch and expand the National brand. CMI also being the owner of the Gibson brand, this is in fact an L-50 equipped with an adjustable neck. Under the plastic cover, a few screws allow you to quickly tilt the neck. It is equipped with its original transparent pickguard and a tailpiece which is not. It is old and elengant though. The rosewood bridge is original. National tuners too. The original frets have plenty of life left and the guitar is very easy to play. Just one small repaired crack under the tailpiece, that’s all. It is a very rare model, produced for only one year since it was discontinued in 1948, and bears witness to the history between Gibson and National. Modern hard case included.
