Straight out of the Gretsch Custom Shop and crafted by Stephen Stern—whose name appears on the back of the headstock—this reissue of the Roundup is a faithful recreation of the original ’50s model. This reissue does a fantastic job of capturing the spirit and vibe of the era. Tonally, it’s seriously impressive—rich, dynamic, and with that classic Gretsch twang we all love. The top is made from knotty pine, and the leather belt around the body is just insane—meticulously done, including the little embossed scene on the tailpiece. The finish work is outstanding, and playability is top-notch—which, let’s be honest, hasn’t always been the case with Gretsch. But here, it’s clear we’re dealing with something truly high-end. Stephen Stern retired two years ago, so these guitars are already becoming collector’s items, he only made a few every year. It comes with its original case and all the paperwork.
