Gibson Super 400
1937
The Queen of Gibson Archtops. Coming from the same collection as the other high-end archtops that you can currently admire on the website, this Super 400 is a real gem. Completely original. Without any repair, without any break, without any touchup. It even comes with its strap, string and case key. The woods are stunning, take a look at this bird’s eye maple. Lots of unique little details: bridge with triangular mother-of-pearl inlays, engraved articulated tailpiece, original heel strap attachment, custom Gothic textura script on the label and heel, even the pick guar bracket is engraved. The neck feels so good, I don’t think there was anything equivalent to that at that time. The action is low and requires almost no pressure. The guitar is very sharp and precise, it’s a phenomenal instrument. It comes with the original hard case. Finding one in this condition today has become so rare. Do not miss it.
