Gibson L-1

This century-old archtop seems to have been returned to Gibson in the second half of the 1960s, as it bears a rather typical label with the “union made” mention. Afterall in 1965 it was already 54 years old!

The result is quite something. It almost looks new.  The color is perfect, the original pickguard and tailpiece have been preserved. The double line Kluson tuners installed on the instrument also correspond well to the second half of the 1960s. They were probably installed when it was returned to the factory. The instrument is in remarkable condition, and we can bet that it has hardly been played since. It’s a shame in a way, because it sounds really good in its register. It’s a guitar, like the L-4, that we have at the moment turned more towards mediums and music from the beginning of the 20th century historically, jazz, blues, ragtime. It’s up to you to do something with it in the 21st. This medium, rather sharp sound seems particularly interesting to me, pairing it with other guitars that are more robust or have a more matte tone. It can be very interesting in a mix. You can also simply enjoy it quietly on a couch, letting yourself be captivated by its vintage tone.

It comes with its non-original 1960s case.
