Gibson ES-345 TD
1964
This 1964 Gibson ES-345TD Stereo is a remarkable guitar, a symbol of Gibson’s expertise at the height of its golden age. Derived from the famous ES-335, it is distinguished by its stereo electronics, Varitone selector and gold hardware. The mahogany neck, 42.8mm wide at the nut, has the sought-after medium C profile, typical of 1964. The brazilian rosewood fingerboard is inlaid with parallelograms and shows little wear. The frets have plenty of life left. It still has its two Patent Number humbuckers. The stereo system and Varitone allow for a very wide sonic palette, making it a truly versatile instrument. This particular example was brought back from England by its previous owner in 1969, where he purchased it in a London shop. It has therefore been played by the same person throughout this time, which gives us a good understanding of its history. Covers removed in the 1980s passed. They were later reinstalled. The back of the neck received a slight overspray during a visit to Scamps, a famous Parisian luthier, when he installed Grover tuners. It’s also very clear under UV light through this slight haze that it was never broken. There’s just a small damage to the jack, which has been repaired. As for playability, it’s absolutely perfect; Gibson really made a difference that year. This profile fits like a glove. It comes with a non original Gibson hardshell case.
