What a beauty.

Of all the basses that have come through the shop, this is probably one of the most desirable.

A 1966 Jazz Bass in Candy Apple Red — quite a bass.

This example has been very well preserved. The original finish is in excellent condition, with only a few minor marks and the typical checking found on these old nitrocellulose finishes. You can clearly see the gold undercoat showing through in the areas where the finish has worn a little more.

The pickups are incredible, with an amazing range of tones. Warm, round, full, powerful, percussive and highly dynamic. We could keep piling on the adjectives for quite some time. Notes simply leap off the fingerboard — an absolute joy to play.

From a collector’s point of view, all the important boxes are ticked, of course: original finish, original and untouched electronics, outstanding condition, and very limited production numbers.

This is an exceptional instrument, without any doubt. It is quite simply the best Jazz Bass I have ever played. It is incredibly easy to play and responsive, and I genuinely don’t think I have ever sounded this good through the shop’s Ampeg B-18N from 67.

This is as good as it gets.

It naturally comes with its original hardshell case.
