Recording King Model A
1938
This lap-steel made by Gibson is a pre-war model. It sounds good and its condition is quite remarkable for an instrument over 85 years old. The Roy Smeck type pickup is strong and works great with pedals. The wiring was partially redone and insulating tape placed inside. It is a hollow instrument made of maple. Its design is simple and elegant. The tuners are Schaller which are very stable. A good bang for the buck.
