Martin 000-28

1950

Where to start? How to stay objective and factual?

This 000-28 dates from 1950. It was brought back from the United States by a young man traveling back and forth between Le Havre and New York in 1996. It is to this young man, now retired, that I owe the chance to be able to offer it to you. As you will see, the instrument is in impeccable condition. It was treated with the greatest care. The guitar is free from any repairs. The bridge with its long saddle is in excellent condition.  The neck is at the right angle and it has not moved. The guitar has not had a neck reset. The woods are absolutely stunning. The interior of the guitar is very clean and you can immediately see that it’s intact. The backplate of the bridge is the original maple piece and in very good condition. It’s a guitar with a richness and depth that I haven’t encountered in a long, long time. This tone is so beautiful. Being a vintage guitar dealer for the last 16 years, it is one of the best acoustic guitars I have ever played in my life (the 00-21 from 1926 and the J-45 banner headstock Gibson also have a special place in my heart). So I’m going to try not to pile on the adjectives, just know that this is one of the best guitars you can buy. It is supplied with its original hard case, also in excellent condition and the invoice from Matt Umanov, a serious store if ever there was one, who sold it in 1996.
