Lowden O-50 TBLK
2019
This unique Lowden O50 is crafted entirely from Master Grade Tasmanian Blackwood, making it a standout example from Lowden’s prestigious 50 Series — instruments built exclusively with the finest tonewoods selected from George Lowden’s private reserve.
Only four all-Blackwood models were ever produced by Lowden, one for each body shape: O, F, S, and Wee. This O-style is not only rare but exceptionally beautiful, showcasing the deep, rich grain patterns and tonal warmth that Tasmanian Blackwood is celebrated for — often described as “Koa on steroids.” The sound is lush and well-balanced, delivering sweet trebles, a defined midrange, and a round, clear bass. Compared to most rosewoods, this wood offers quicker attack and enhanced note separation, making it an ideal companion for fingerstyle players and alternate tunings.
Tonally, this guitar excels in dynamics, color, and responsiveness. It responds effortlessly to the lightest touch, with piano-like clarity and depth that is both inspiring and expressive. The craftsmanship is second to none, and every element of the instrument reflects Lowden’s premium build quality.
This O50 also features custom touches such as a comfortable armrest bevel and Style 38 abalone leaf inlays for the position markers. The guitar is in near-mint condition and includes its original hardshell case.
