Gibson Les Paul Special ’55 reissue
1974
This is the first reissue of the Les Paul Special with a single cutaway. It’s a good-quality reissue with woods unlike anything you find today. The tuners are Schaller, like the last one we had here, and the plastic pickups rings are missing. Otherwise, it’s all good; it’s an instrument that vibrates well and can handle even somewhat heavy gauge strings. I tried it with 52/11, and it plays very well. There’s a pair of original P90 clear bobins that sound great. The pots and knobs are original and work well. The frets are of a good level, it’s ready to play. It comes with an old hardshell case.
