Gérôme hawaiian guitar
1988
The French Weissenborn. We often forget it, but France is also a country where Hawaiian guitars have been made for a hundred years. This Gérôme is certainly one of the last Hawaiians to come out of their workshops before they closed when Lucien retired. Certainly a special order because in 1988 the fashion for Hawaii and exotic islands had long since passed and Ben Harper was not going to release his first album for a few years. It is therefore a French instrument that was quite unusual at that time. However, the Gérôme workshop already had several decades of experience of crafting slide guitars in 1988. This guitar is made with a spruce top and mahogany sides. It is in excellent condition and sounds good. It’s a good instrument, for a very reasonable price and so much more attractive than the copies from Asia.
