{"id":33867,"date":"2025-11-24T10:06:33","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vintageguitars.fr\/?post_type=product&#038;p=33867"},"modified":"2025-11-24T10:06:33","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:06:33","slug":"martin-d-18-2","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/vintageguitars.fr\/en\/produit\/martin-d-18-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin D-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Here is the oldest Martin D-18 I&#8217;ve been able to show you all these years: a 1951. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This post-war model is in good condition, and as you can see, it has been played.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The finish is worn from hours and hours of practice.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The wear is consistent and even across the entire instrument.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It sounds like only guitars that have been played for decades can.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It has that dry sound, that dry, woody resonance that gives these old Martins their charm.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">There&#8217;s a minor repair on the side, and the rosewood bridge has been lightly sanded on the treble side; I&#8217;ve tried to show this as clearly as possible in the photos.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It had a pickup mounted under the bridge plate, simply glued on with some kind of adhesive paste that left a small mark.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The bridge plate is original and in good condition.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The bracing is original and well-glued.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The end block has been drilled to accommodate the jack.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The fretboard is in good condition and plays very well. It has been partially repaired in the most worn areas, which is completely imperceptible to the fingers.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The action is good, with 2,5mm at the 12th fret on the low E and 2mm on the high e.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"> Finding a pre-1970s Martin D-18 in Europe is a rare opportunity.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">I can count on one hand the number of 1950s and 60s Martin D-18s around here in recent years, so this is a rare find for anyone seeking that inimitable sound.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It comes with a modern hard case.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is the oldest Martin D-18 I&#8217;ve been able to show you all these years: a 1951.
