This particular model has a discreet, well-repaired slot on the back of the headstock, the classic fishhook shape. This instrument has all its original hardware and has never had a Bigsby or tailpiece. The Varitone is still functional and offers a wide range of sounds. It's no longer in stereo but in mono\u2014a small modification that's more than common on these models. The guitar is an immense pleasure to play. The neck is a true highway; it's precise and totally intuitive; everything seems easy and obvious. It sounds so good, even when empty.
