{"id":28966,"date":"2025-03-17T16:15:55","date_gmt":"2025-03-17T15:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vintageguitars.fr\/en\/product\/gibson-lg-2-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-17T16:20:10","modified_gmt":"2025-03-17T15:20:10","slug":"gibson-lg-2-2","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/vintageguitars.fr\/en\/produit\/gibson-lg-2-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Gibson LG-2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Attention exceptional guitar.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This LG-2 is a real little bombshell; it&#8217;s a sort of mini J-45 on steroids.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It vibrates so much.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It will undoubtedly be one of the defining instruments of the year, if not more.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">First of all, the condition is impeccable.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The guitar does have some play marks on the varnish, which was quite soft at that time, but there are no cracks or repairs.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The neck angle is excellent, and the guitar is very easy to play because it has benefited from a neck reset.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It has been refretted with frets similar to the originals.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The tuners are replicas of those originally installed on these models.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It is therefore in absolutely optimal playing condition.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">But if it were only the condition&#8230; no, it sounds like a million bucks as the Americans say.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">I really see a lot of beautiful guitars, but this one has something.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It&#8217;s just phenomenal.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It&#8217;s all there.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The roundness, the precision, the sharpness, and the projection.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">What a voice!<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It&#8217;s a truly great guitar.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">For the record, this LG-2 was manufactured in 1944, a time when only women worked at the Gibson factory.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Even though the brand refused to acknowledge their existence until the 1990s, women did indeed create these incredible guitars, which were also assumed not to exist.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Since the factory was mobilized for the war effort, it wasn&#8217;t supposed to produce musical instruments.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Yet, according to its own documents, it produced 25,000 between 1940 and 1945. Dating a Banner is always a tricky business.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This one bears a FON 2313 24, which places it around 1943\/44.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The neck block inside the body being a rectangular block of poplar, this would make me lean more towards 1944. There is some mahogany for the internal blocks in 1943, but it&#8217;s more likely pre-number 2200. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Comes in its modern Gibson acoustic case.
