It is a witness to a bygone era. The guitar was finding its feet and beginning to assert itself, gradually replacing the banjo in North American music. This L-4 therefore began its life playing blues and jazz, most likely in the USA, since these guitars were only very marginally imported to us, most often by travelers or on the occasion of a special order. During its long life it was restored, although I cannot be precise on the date, it seems that the work dates back a few decades. Two cracks were stabilized on the table and the entire instrument was refinished in a pretty cherry sunburst shade that suits it very well. The guitar is stable and sound. These necks are indestructible, I have never seen any that had warped. It has a V-shaped profile with a prominent ridge in the middle. I know it might scare some people, but in my opinion, it's actually quite comfortable and allows you to rest your thumb comfortably in the middle of the neck. It's very fleshy and solid, as was the norm at the time. The tuners are quality reissues that work very well.
